“These are the years where children discover not just the world around them, but the strength, brilliance, and dreams within them.”
At Shiva Shiksha Sadan, the Primary Years mark a vibrant leap from wonder to wisdom — where curiosity grows into confidence and imagination unfolds into discovery. These early years nurture independence, creativity, and a lifelong love for learning.
Each classroom becomes a world of exploration — where words come alive through Fitzroy Readers (Australia) and grammar becomes joyful with Jolly Grammar (UK). Every morning, our Shivacharyas spark linguistic magic with a Power Word, Idiom, or Phrase of the Day, turning language into a living adventure.
Learning moves beyond textbooks as children engage in STEAM projects from Evan-Moor (USA), dive into Supermarket Maths, and explore hands-on science that builds real-world understanding. Through collaboration, communication, and creativity, our learners discover not just facts — but how to think, connect, and create.
Beyond academics, art, design, and drama let emotions bloom, while prayer and moral values ground our children in humility and respect. Kindness, gratitude, and discipline remain the heart of every lesson.
Our Primary Shivians are explorers, inventors, and dreamers. They shine in Olympiads and Declamation contests, yet their truest victories lie in the courage to question, the joy to learn, and the strength to care.
At Shiva Shiksha Sadan, the Primary journey is where roots deepen and wings take flight — where every child begins to shape not just their own story, but the world’s tomorrow.
In the Primary Wing of Shiva Shiksha Sadan School, experiential learning is an integral part of our approach, allowing students to explore concepts through real-life connections and hands-on experiences. In Grade 1, taking water as a central theme, our experiential Funkaar programme interweaves multiple disciplines, blending scholastic and co-scholastic areas in an engaging, activity-based manner without relying on textbooks. Students enjoy reading a poem in English about water, writing an essay on the same theme in Hindi, and exploring the functioning of the school’s drinking water system through an EVS project. Their creativity flows into water-themed paintings in Art, expressive dance mudras that resemble waterfalls, and number activities that involve estimation and measurement using water. Through these integrated experiences, children observe, probe, reflect, and delve deeply into a single theme, connecting academic learning with diverse concepts in meaningful ways.

Our classroom tools are varied and effective. Integrated learning forms the foundation of our methodology. The blended learning models for language use technology and traditional classroom teaching to engage children and illuminate concepts. Teamwork and collaborative effort drive children to do their best. They share their exciting discoveries through discussions, projects, and student-led action. Best of all, the needs of diverse learners are met by our dedicated teachers through differentiated teaching methods.
“From the roots we planted in Pre-Primary, our Shivians now rise into confident readers who carry global learning in every syllable.”
In Primary Grades 2–5, Jolly Phonics evolves from playful sound discovery into purposeful reading mastery. Children now blend, decode, spell, and express with sharpened clarity. The multisensory foundation laid earlier blossoms into fluent reading, stronger vocabulary, and thoughtful writing. With each new sound pattern and tricky words, students step further into linguistic independence. Here, phonics is no longer just learning sounds—it becomes the wind beneath their wings as they soar into literature, comprehension, and confident communication.
“The seed of sound has grown into the flower of structure—now our Shivians learn the art of shaping thoughts into powerful words.”
In the Primary years, Jolly Grammar transforms language into a beautifully ordered universe. Children explore nouns, verbs, tenses, punctuation, and sentence craft with global methodologies that deepen understanding. What began as playful phonics now matures into structured writing, reflective expression, and grammatical confidence. Through colours, actions, and meaningful practice, students learn how language works—and how they can make it work for them. At Shiva Shiksha Sadan, grammar becomes a canvas of creativity, clarity, and articulate expression.
“As our Shivians grow, their stories grow with them—woven from global texts that build courage, comprehension, and curiosity.”
Fitzroy Readers extend beyond decoding into true reading wisdom for Grades 2–5. Each book introduces more advanced phonics patterns, richer vocabulary, and layered comprehension. Students learn to infer, predict, question, and connect—skills that turn reading into thinking.
With carefully graded levels and authentic Australian literature, learners move from simple sentences to fluent, meaningful reading. These stories become stepping stones to imagination and gateways to global understanding. Here, every page strengthens skill; every narrative strengthens confidence.
“From the early spark of curiosity, our Shivians now craft ideas into inventions—learning not just to understand the world, but to shape it.”
In Primary Grades 2–5, STEAM becomes the heartbeat of hands-on discovery. Through Evan-Moor (USA) projects, design thinking, Supermarket Maths, experiments, robotics basics, and artistic integration, children learn to question boldly and solve creatively. Concepts turn into models, theories into trials, and curiosity into innovation. STEAM empowers students to connect disciplines, collaborate meaningfully, and think beyond the obvious. At Shiva Shiksha Sadan, they don’t just learn about the world—they learn how to reimagine it.
“Every child carries a story—English Theatre gives it wings, a voice, a rhythm, and a world to shine in.”
The English Theatre Programme transforms communication into an art form. Students step into characters, emotions, and stories that build confidence, fluency, and expressive power. Through poetry recitations, dialogues, stage performances, and dramatic storytelling, children learn pronunciation, tone, empathy, and collaboration. Theatre teaches them to listen deeply and speak fearlessly. It nurtures imagination while refining linguistic finesse. For Grades 2–5, the stage becomes a classroom of courage—where every Shivian learns to think, feel, express, and mesmerise.
“As knowledge expands, character must rise with it—guided by values that help every Shivian grow with grace and goodness.”
In the Primary years, moral education moves from simple lessons to meaningful choices. Children learn empathy, responsibility, respect, honesty, digital etiquette, gratitude, and mindful behaviour through stories, reflections, circle times, and real-life scenarios. Values become lived experiences—practised in classrooms, corridors, and friendships. Students learn how to resolve conflicts, support peers, appreciate diversity, and act with integrity. At Shiva Shiksha Sadan, moral values nurture not just better students—but compassionate, confident young human beings ready to lead with heart.

In both scholastic and co-scholastic domains, we evaluate continuously and comprehensively. There are no formal examinations. The assessments are embedded within the learning process. The information we collect feeds back into our teaching–learning process and helps us meet learning objectives.
